Physical Symptoms of Anxiety

Updated: Feb 10, 2021

To build off our blog post - '5 Steps to Reducing Anxiety with Acupressure' - I wanted to take a moment and define the types of physical symptoms you may experience if you are suffering from anxiety.

Sometimes people may not be consciously aware they are feeling symptoms of anxiety but do know they are suffering from certain physical ailments. My hope is that this post and info-graph below may become a resource and help you become aware of these symptoms and how you are feeling.

Dealing with the emotional stressors could help ease the physical symptom.

Anxiety is defined as a feeling of worry, nervousness or unease, from a fear that something bad or unpleasant may happen. The moment that we become afraid, the body sets off a stress response.

This response when we are in danger is important, as it gives us a boost in energy and is usually referred to as a fight or flight response. When this happens infrequently, the body has time to recover from the stress. However, when it happens often or for long periods of time, it can lead to many physical symptoms.

There are many ways to help treat anxiety, acupuncture and acupressure are just two that is used at Pure Health Clinic.

Acupuncture's focus is about bringing balance back to the body, and each individual is a unique case, even though the symptoms might be presented similarly. At Pure Health, it is important to look at the overall person - body, mind and spirit to determine how to restore balance.
